Mediavine optimizes ads for page speed with new dashboard setting

New setting has been created in response to changes in Google PageSpeed Insights BOCA RATON, Fla. (Dec. 5, 2018) – This week Mediavine launched a new setting to optimize ads for mobile page loads. The feature was created in response to increased goals set by Google PageSpeed Insights and its latest Lighthouse update. Page speed is of utmost importance to Mediavine, which has long utilized the implementation of lazy loading to make it the fastest ad management provider. With these changes to PageSpeed Insights, however, it was critical for the company to develop a new, innovative strategy for its nearly 4,000 publishers to further optimize ads for mobile page loads. The new setting, labeled “Optimize Ads for Mobile PageSpeed” within Mediavine publishers’ dashboards, delays ads from loading until a user has become interactive. This allows web browsers to focus on loading the content as quickly […]

Let’s talk about one of the less sparkly and exciting, but very important, topics within the blogging world, shall we? Disclosure. It’s a word that gets people fired up and feeling all the feels. I get it, it feels clunky and like one more thing you have to check off your list when doing sponsored work. But properly disclosing a relationship with a brand is really important. So let’s dive a bit deeper into the why and how. WHY SHOULD I DISCLOSE SPONSORED WORK? One word: Trust. Trust is something that we as bloggers work really hard to establish with our readers. We know that you can’t simply pop onto the internet and assume that readers will believe everything you are telling them from the jump. Instead, you have to form a relationship with your readers. They come to learn over time that your content […]

Pinterest In the Making

Perhaps you’ve heard of a (not so) little social media platform called Pinterest? It’s no secret that Pinterest is the place for content creators. From food to crafting to fashion and more, it is the place where creators can connect with readers and inspire everyone to make something amazing. At Mediavine, we recognize the enormous value that a platform of this type and magnitude can have to our publishers, which is why we have worked hard to establish a relationship with the team behind Pinterest, introducing them to our content creators and advocating on your behalf with them. They’ve been featured multiple times on the Mediavine blog, and whether we’re introducing their new business profile or our hack for hidden pins, any content involving Pinterest is always popular. We even did a Facebook Live Q&A with two of their employees recently, and plan to do more […]

You’re familiar with our mission statement here at Mediavine, right? In case you need a refresher, the thing that we love to do above all else is “build sustainable businesses for content creators.” As a team of content creators ourselves, we know that one of the biggest components of building a sustainable business is diverse income streams. Because here’s the thing: We don’t want you to rely only on your ads for income! We want you to be pulling from a variety of income streams, including affiliate income and sponsored work. And that’s where I come in. As your friendly neighborhood Director of Influencer Marketing, my job is to bring in sponsored work for our awesome, talented publishers. “So…what makes you qualified to do this?” That’s a fair question! I have been a part of the Mediavine family for years – I was one of […]

Custom-built unit brings together advertisers, publisher and users in a new way through high-viewability mobile native experiences Mediavine has launched a custom-built, patent-pending ad unit exclusive to the company: the video adhesion player. The unit, currently in beta testing, is the first of its kind and is Mediavine’s first piece of advertising technology to receive a provisional patent. The video adhesion player is a mobile native experience that showcases publishers’ original videos to users, providing publishers the opportunity to monetize with highly sought-after video ads on every pageview in a user-friendly format. The player uses video header bidding capabilities from Prebid.js to integrate with advertising partners’ video demand. The video adhesion unit will take the place of the company’s pre-existing mobile adhesion banner ad unit when a video advertisement wins the marketplace auction. By keeping the new unit the same location as the existing mobile […]

This week Mediavine announced that 86 percent of the company’s ad requests are now from properties with ads.txt files. Mediavine is one of the first publisher representative firms to widely adopt ads.txt, which verifies to advertisers that display and video impressions will not be running on fake or bot websites. Earlier in 2017, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) announced ads.txt as a new standard for increased digital advertising supply chain transparency. Ads.txt, which stands for Authorized Digital Sellers, is a secure way to fight advertising fraud by preventing unauthorized reselling of digital ad inventory through arbitration and misrepresentation or counterfeit ad impressions. With 86 percent of Mediavine’s ad requests now coming from sites with ads.txt files, the company has been a leader in transitioning to the new standard. “Adopting the ads.txt standard has been a top priority for us,” said Eric Hochberger, Mediavine Co-Founder. “Some […]
