If you can’t tell, we love our jobs at Mediavine.  We all get to work remotely (sometimes in our pajamas!) with some of the most creative and passionate content creators on the internet. One of the coolest aspects of this job is getting to meet these incredible publishers in person when we attend and sometimes sponsor blogging conferences (not in our pajamas).

When we say full-service ad management, we mean it.  There’s so much that goes into the ads you see on your site, from the technology and code to the business side of things.  We love showing you the nuts and bolts of Mediavine and letting you get to know our team, which is the reason for behind the scenes posts like People Operations at Mediavine as well as why we started our Behind the Vine series. In our first installment, you met Software Engineer Alex Roth. Today we’re excited to let you hear about another aspect of Mediavine’s operations, this time from one of our four co-founders, Matt Richenthal!  You might already know Matt from his weekly, a-pun-dant posts in our Facebook group to announce our newest publishers. He also joined us on the blog last summer when we switched to a new payment system. […]

How to Build an Instagram Account that Your Audience LOVES to Follow

Instagram, love it or hate it, is a key player in the social media game. With the ever-changing algorithms and fickle fans, I completely get that Instagram can seem like a fruitless way to spend your time. Why Instagram is still important To play devil’s advocate, Instagram is a great place to find a community of followers who really love you and look forward to your next posts. With things like Instagram stories and IGTV, you can delve deeper into your brand and allow your followers to get to know you even better by showcasing life behind-the-scenes. It’s also a place where brands will look to see your photography skills and style at a glance, to see how you handle sponsored Instagram opportunities and to learn more about you. Though the Instagram founders have resigned, this platform is still relevant because it has more than […]

Mediavine at TravelCon in Austin

Wanderlust hits us hard at Mediavine, which is why one of my favorite parts of this job is getting to travel to conferences around the country to meet with our publishers. So far this year we’ve been to Pinterest in The Making in San Francisco, Everything Food Conference in Salt Lake City, Blog Elevated in Houston and our own Mediavine Conference at the Googleplex in Mountain View, California — just to name a few!

From pet writers at BlogPaws in Kansas City to foodies at Everything Food Conference in Utah, 2018 has already been a busy year filled with new faces for the Mediavine team. We love meeting publishers in person, so we travel across the country (and continent) to as many blogging conferences as we can squeeze in. Earlier this summer, Jenny and Susannah ventured to hot and humid Houston, Texas for a whirlwind weekend at the Blog Elevated conference. This event typically happens annually in a multi-day conference format, but this year was waylaid by last summer’s Hurricane Harvey. Texas was devastated by flooding, and many in Houston lost their homes. Instead, the organizers are planning several one-day workshops throughout the year to keep local bloggers connected and on the cutting edge. On June 30th, we celebrated National Social Media Day.  When the organizers of Blog Elevated reached out […]

Mediavine works with bloggers of all niches, from travel to finance, but the food niche will always hold a special place in our hearts. If you’re familiar with how Mediavine got started, you’ll know that we started with ads on our own food site, Food Fanatic, and branched out to helping our Food Fanatic writers — other bloggers — with ads on their sites. Since then, we’ve expanded to more than 3,300 sites that cover a multitude of topics, but our food blogging roots mean we love food blogging conferences. It’s not just because we really love to eat! We love to get out in the world and meet fellow bloggers, as you’ll recall from our trips to San Francisco for Pinterest’s first conference and Kansas City for BlogPaws earlier this year, as well as our own Mediavine Conference in San Jose. This year we […]

It might seem a little bananas to go into this much detail on the Mediavine dashboard, but we’re committed to transparency — and your success — here at Mediavine. So today I’m excited to give you Part Two of our behind-the-scenes tour of the publisher dashboard. This series is for YOU — whether you’re considering a switch to Mediavine, or you’re already one of our MVPs and want to know more about all the settings in your dashboard and how to customize them for your website. Last week I walked you through the main reporting data of your Mediavine dashboard, and today we’re going even further behind the scenes into the settings. This is the part of the dashboard that’s arguably the most fun: Using the tools at hand to help you fine tune your ads for user experience, boost RPMs and, ultimately, make more […]

Data is complicated. If there’s one thing I learned in my college statistics class, it’s that. Before I ever worked here, I was (and still am!) a publisher for my site Feast + West. From the first days I was with Mediavine for my ads, I have loved the way they make complex data easy to understand. The multi-faceted reporting and customizable settings available in the dashboard are unmatched. With other ad management companies, I had never seen anything this detailed. After more than a year in Publisher Support and now as part of our Marketing team, I see the value in our dashboard more than ever. From settings you can change to help you earn even more, to reporting that gives you a top-down view of how well your ads are doing, the Mediavine dashboard is pivotal to a publisher’s success with their ad […]
