We get asked a lot who owns Mediavine, whether it is publicly owned, or part of a bigger media group funded by investors. The answer – which is the same today as it has been for the last 19 years – may surprise you! Mediavine was founded as a publishing company back in 2004 and has been independently owned and operated ever since. No outside investment, no additional partners. We answer to no one but ourselves, and our 10,000+ publishers. Our growth over the past two decades has been because of, not in spite of, this independence. We get to build and develop projects exactly the way we want, and as quickly as we want. Without the constraints faced by other companies; we’re able to ensure that our only motivation is the growth of our publishers. It’s all in our mission statement:

That’s not going to change. Because we are independently owned and financed, we’re able to remain agile and adapt to the most pressing challenges facing the web – from privacy to A.I. and everything in between. Our independence makes for a better experience for publishers and their readers (and our readers too – we still own all our original sites, and run them personally). A lot has changed in recent years, but even if the industry looks nothing like it did when we started, our commitment to our community – and to a better Internet – remains intact. We’re here for the long haul. Being your advertising and publishing partner means we’re committed to weathering the ups and downs of owning an online business. It’s our job to stay informed and invest in the latest technology so that you’re always at the top of your game and we are too. Mediavine is for publishers, by publishers.
