Teal On The Go: Mediavine Q3 2019 Conference Recap

Mediavine is a such a great place to work (in case you can’t already tell how much we love our jobs)!

Working remotely definitely has its perks, but even more exciting is getting out and traveling to attend a variety of conferences and events.

One of our favorite parts of work travel is meeting our amazing publishers in real life. It’s also wonderful to connect and spend time with some of the fully remote Mediavine team in person.

Conferences are the perfect time to learn from awesome speakers, meet new people, explore different places and of course, eat lots of delicious food.

We’ve kept ourselves busy so far this year, especially preparing for our Mediavine Conference in Austin, and Q3 was no exception.

Take a look at everywhere we went last quarter!

Haven

Rose’s Take

Haven was amazing! It was a whirlwind of super talented DIY bloggers and amazing brands that we had the privilege of connecting with.

TCFStyle Expo

Rose’s Take

Trista and I presented at TCFStyle Expo and we really enjoyed getting to meet so many fantastic plus size bloggers, vloggers and influencers.

We got to meet the amazingly fabulous Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista (who will be speaking at MVCON Austin) and trade knowledge about revenue optimization and SEO for fashion tips and lessons in being fabulous!

Jenny’s Take

It may be hard to believe but the lovely ladies and styles at the TCFStyle Expo were even hotter than the temperature in an Atlanta August! Mediavine publisher Marie Denee, The Curvy Fashionista herself and conference organizer, was celebrating the 5th year of her event.

Trista, Rose and myself had a blast at the 2nd Blogger Mastermind Day where Mediavine was a sponsor. I loved watching Rose and Trista give attendees all the awesome optimization tips.

Other trip highlights included a panel with previous Project Runway contestants and sampling lots of delicious soul food.

The Tastemaker Conference.

Tastemaker Conference

Jenny’s Take

A foodie city like Portland was the perfect place for the beautiful 2nd Tastemaker Conference and we made our time in The City of Roses count! We loved being at our booth in the Expo Hall, talking Create and optimization with everyone that stopped by.

On Friday, Heather and Nicole were awesome tag team partners with me during our “More Money, More Traffic: Optimize your Top Content for Ads and SEO in 4 Easy Steps” session.

Conference organizers kept us well fed with local delicacies like ice cream and donuts and a steady stream of snacks from sponsors like Tillamook. But of course, we made time for after hours noshing at the Pine Street Market and the gorgeous speaker dinner at Andina.

FYI Conference

Stephie’s Take

Heather, Nicole and I attended the 2nd annual FYI Con in Denver. In between attending some awesome sessions, I moderated a panel on working with brands with four powerhouse ladies on both sides of the brand/blog equation.

We even had time for ramen at Uncle and a show at Red Rocks.

Plaid St.

Rose’s Take

Plaid St. (formerly Type-A Parent) was a bit more intimate, but we got the chance to spend some quality one-on-one time with many of our publishers (and some aspiring publishers) to give them advice on building their audience, fixing site speed and most importantly, optimizing their revenue!

We loved doing more of a live help desk, as it allowed us to really knock out a lot of issues in a very short period of time.

The best part for me was getting to see people coming in with what they thought were huge issues, only to walk them through things and within a few minutes of one-on-one support they had a solution!

Getting to see things “click” for people was so rewarding and I am looking forward to doing it again in Austin in a few weeks!

Jenny’s Take

Our beautiful nation’s capital is always a great place to visit — so much history! So Instagrammable! Plaid St.’s (formerly Type-A Parent) annual conference in Alexandria, Virginia gave me the chance to meet up with some of my bestest bloggy buddies and awesome co-workers from the Publisher Support team.

I was honored to sit on the Industry Trends panel alongside Mediavine publishers Michelle from Midlife Healthy Living, Gina from Moneywise Moms and Anne from Midlife Boulevard, hosted expertly by Cam and Emilia from FLOCK.

The Real Talk About Monetization session with my buddy Jamie Lieberman of Hashtag Legal is always a blast to deliver and I loved preaching content upcycling as part of the Beginner SEO Academy.

Our booth schedule was packed in the Expo Hall, with Trista, Rose and Kenya doing one-on-one consultations with attendees. We even managed to cram in a tapas feast and a little sightseeing on the side.
